Depending on the mission, the Matrice 400 can be equipped with the Zenmuse H30 Series, L2, P1, S1 Spotlight, V1 Speaker, Manifold 3, or third-party payloads, expanding its capabilities and unlocking the full potential of the DJI ecosystem.
DJI Matrice 400, DJI Enterprise’s flagship drone platform, delivers an impressive 59-minute flight time[1], a payload capacity of up to 6 kg[2], as well as an integrated rotating LiDAR and mmWave radar for power line-level obstacle detection[3]. It also supports the enhanced O4 Enterprise video transmission system and airborne relay video transmission[4], ensuring safer operation and simplified deployment. Combining intelligent detection with visible and thermal imaging, AR projection, takeoff and landing from vessels, and advanced automation, Matrice 400 excels in emergency response, power inspections, mapping, and AEC applications.
Pilots who already own a DJI Matrice 400 without a parachute have the option to upgrade their drone, currently certified as C3, to C6 certification.

The Matrice 400 delivers exceptional flight capabilities, with up to 59 minutes of forward flight time, even with a payload, and up to 53 minutes of hovering time[6]. This performance makes it a reliable tool for long-duration, continuous operations such as search and rescue, firefighting, and large-scale mapping. It can also avoid large obstacles[3], such as buildings and mountains, even at a flight speed of up to 25 m/s.
The Matrice 400’s high payload capacity enables it to easily meet the requirements of a wide range of applications. With a maximum payload capacity of 6 kg[2], the Matrice 400 can seamlessly switch from a single downward gimbal[8] to a dual downward gimbal configuration[8]. It also features a third gimbal connector beneath the airframe for additional flexibility. The aircraft is equipped with four external E-Port V2 ports[7], allowing up to seven payloads to be mounted simultaneously.
The Zenmuse H30 Series, DJI’s flagship all-weather multi-sensor payload, integrates five key modules: a wide-angle camera, a zoom camera, an infrared thermal camera, a laser rangefinder, and an NIR auxiliary light. Powered by advanced intelligent algorithms, it redefines perception and imaging standards, pushing the boundaries of both day and night vision.
The Zenmuse L2 integrates a high-precision in-house developed LiDAR module, an advanced IMU system, and a 4/3 CMOS RGB mapping camera, providing DJI flight platforms with more accurate, efficient, and reliable geospatial data acquisition.

The Matrice 400 has an IP55 protection rating[9], allowing it to operate reliably in demanding conditions, including dusty environments and heavy rain. It also maintains stable performance in temperatures ranging from -20°C to 50°C, ensuring consistent results in both hot and cold weather.
The Matrice 400’s advanced obstacle detection system integrates a rotating LiDAR, a high-precision mmWave radar, and low-light color fisheye vision sensors[13], taking obstacle detection capabilities to an unprecedented level. The system can detect even small obstacles, such as high-voltage power lines across mountainous terrain, even in complete darkness[3]. It can also see through rain and fog to detect its surroundings, providing enhanced safety in challenging weather conditions.
Thanks to the aircraft’s ten-antenna system and the remote controller’s high-gain phased-array antenna, the enhanced O4 Enterprise video transmission system enables image transmission over distances of up to 40 km[10].
The Matrice 400 also supports the sub2G frequency band[5]. When equipped with two DJI Cellular Dongle 2 units[11], it can automatically switch to the best available mobile network, providing a more stable signal even in interference-prone urban environments or remote areas.
The Matrice 400 features an integrated video transmission relay module. With this configuration, the Matrice 400 can serve as a relay drone, flying at high altitude to provide a relay signal to another Matrice 400 operating at a greater distance. This feature significantly extends the effective transmission range, making it ideal for search and rescue missions as well as inspections in mountainous areas.
The omnidirectional sensing capabilities[12] provided by the rotating LiDAR, high-precision mmWave radar, and low-light color fisheye sensors give the Matrice 400 robust positioning capabilities. It can fly steadily near glass façades or wind turbine blades and safely return from building edges, mountain slopes, or the sides of bridges, even when the Return-to-Home point has not been updated.
The aircraft’s four low-light color fisheye sensors provide color vision assistance[13], ensuring safer flight.
Using visible and thermal imaging from the Zenmuse H30 Series, the Matrice 400 can detect vehicles, vessels, and people during search and rescue operations or routine flights. It also supports switching to other models, enabling applications across a wider range of scenarios. In addition, it supports high-resolution grid photography and offers powerful tracking capabilities.
During missions such as power line inspections, the obstacle detection system automatically identifies cables ahead[3] and displays highly visible AR lines on the remote controller’s screen, providing enhanced environmental awareness and ensuring safer flight.
During both daytime and nighttime operations in urban environments, the remote controller can display building and landmark names in real time, while highlighting major roads with clearly visible lines.
Without the need for modeling, operators can mark points on the remote controller’s screen to locate subjects, draw lines to measure distances between multiple points, or outline areas to calculate their surface area. Measurement results can be synchronized with DJI FlightHub 2 to improve team efficiency.
The Matrice 400 supports real-time terrain following in all horizontal directions[15]. This feature can be activated during both manual flight and automated flight routes, maintaining a stable relative altitude above the ground. During large-scale search and rescue operations, the size of subjects on the ground can remain consistent on the remote controller’s screen, reducing the need for frequent zoom adjustments and improving efficiency. During mapping missions, a consistent ground sampling distance (GSD) can be maintained to obtain high-precision mapping data.
To meet the needs of offshore operations such as maritime patrols and wind turbine inspections, the Matrice 400 can take off from and land on ships, whether they are stationary or moving. By detecting the landing pad patterns on the deck, it can perform precise and safe landings.
Activate Cruise Control mode to fly the drone in a specific direction without constantly holding the joysticks, making long-distance flights and linear inspections easier.
In the event of an emergency or disaster, the drone can automatically adjust its flight path and speed based on its surroundings, allowing it to reach a designated location without manual adjustments.
Intelligent Tracking enables precise subject positioning and automatic zoom adjustments, allowing you to switch seamlessly between subjects. It can also automatically reacquire a subject even if it is briefly obstructed from view.
POI enables continuous observation and 3D modeling of buildings while flying over a designated area, significantly improving the efficiency of fixed-point observation and modeling tasks.
When equipped with the Zenmuse L2 LiDAR payload, the Matrice 400 can perform automated flights along power transmission and distribution lines. It uses the rotating LiDAR to detect obstacles in real time and automatically avoids crossing lines.
The Matrice 400 supports the planning and execution of slope and geometric routes via DJI Pilot 2 or DJI FlightHub 2. Whether conducting detailed aerial surveys of façades, slopes, or other inclined surfaces, or collecting mapping data for individual buildings or structures, the Matrice 400 can quickly plan slope or geometric routes to efficiently acquire high-precision data.
The DJI RC Plus 2 Enterprise Enhanced remote controller features a new high-brightness display that remains clearly visible even in direct sunlight. It has an IP54 protection rating and can operate in temperatures ranging from -20°C to 50°C. Equipped with the enhanced O4 Enterprise video transmission system, it features a high-gain antenna array for outstanding transmission performance. It also supports the sub2G module and 4G hybrid transmission solutions, ensuring stable and smooth video transmission in both dense urban environments and mountainous areas.
The DJI Cellular Dongle 2 enables video transmission over a 4G network and can work with the enhanced O4 Enterprise video transmission system, ensuring safe flights in complex environments. It also provides mobile network connectivity for the remote controller.
The TB100 Intelligent Flight Battery uses high-performance, high-energy cells and can be recharged for up to 400 cycles, reducing the cost per flight. It also features an optimized heat dissipation system and a self-heating system for enhanced reliability.
