The DJI AP100 is a professional parachute system specifically designed for the DJI Matrice 400, providing an additional layer of safety during critical operations. It helps protect the drone, its payload, and people on the ground by ensuring rapid parachute deployment in the event of an incident, either automatically or manually.
Featuring an independent power supply and a redundant architecture, the AP100 operates autonomously without relying on the drone’s flight systems. Its onboard controller continuously monitors the aircraft’s status and deploys the parachute in less than 600 ms when a critical situation is detected. An integrated Flight Termination System (FTS) simultaneously cuts power to the motors to prevent them from becoming entangled in the parachute canopy.
With a descent speed of less than 5 m/s, the DJI AP100 significantly reduces ground impact energy and helps make operations safer in sensitive environments or near people. The parachute can also be deployed manually through DJI Pilot 2 or remotely via DJI FlightHub 2, where this functionality is supported.
Designed for the most demanding professional missions, the system features the same IP55 protection rating as the Matrice 400 and operates in temperatures ranging from -20°C to +50°C, ensuring a high level of reliability in a wide range of weather conditions.
The DJI AP100 also helps facilitate regulatory compliance for many professional operations. When installed on a Matrice 400, it can help meet the requirements for certain European operations (STS-01/C5, depending on the drone configuration) and is an essential piece of equipment for high-safety missions or operations in urban environments.
